Professor Dr. José Luis de la Cuesta is Professor of Criminal Law at the University of the Basque Country (Spain) and director of the Basque Institute of Criminology. De la Cuesta studies law from 1972-1977 at the University of Valladolid and did his Ph.D. in law at the University of the Basque Country in 1981. He is Vice President of the Society of Basque Studies (2005-), Member of the Board of Directors of the International Society of Criminology and President of the International Association of Penal Law.
